Her Last Visit

Her Last Visit

One day my grandmother was sharing some of my great grandfather’s experiences about some paranormal activities. One of them seemed really horrifying and mysterious ghost story. I don’t know whether it was a real story or not but it is really interesting. I will share the story with you all …
My great grandfather’s name is Manishankar Mukhopadhaya. But everyone in the village used to call him Mani in short. He was known for his bravery in his village.

This story revolves around 1878 when Bengal witnessed a massive flood. At earlier times, Kirtans and Bhajans (devotional songs) used to be sung in the Zamindar’s resident. That lasted for 7-8 days. One night of the 4th day, a woman (who was called Sarada) told the landlady that she would return home as her son is alone at home and he had to leave for work tomorrow at dawn. So, the landlady gave Sarada a plate where all kinds of Bengali food were there. It is often believed that if someone carries any non-veg food with them at night alone, then ghosts with capture them. Still, Sarada went towards home. She didn’t take the usual road, but she unconsciously took the other way…

Now, let’s come to another scene. It is about my great grandfather. At his time child marriage was very prevalent. At those times people were not aware of the outcomes of child marriage. So, considering child marriage as a ritual, my great grandfather married a girl of 12 years. Soon, she was pregnant and the delivery date came after 10 months 10 days. But, unfortunately, while delivering, she and also the child who was to be born passed away. So, my great grandfather had to fulfill the last rites for her so that her soul can rest in peace. It was that day when Sarada was returning home. It was also the last day of my great grandfather maintaining his wife’s last rites. In older times, as there was no arrangement for defecating in a covered place, people had to go to fields. So, that night, he went to the fields and that time was the time when Bengal faced a massive threat to life due to the disastrous flood. That place was at a higher level so it didn’t face any problem. The only ankle dipped water level was present there during the flood. He went to the place where water was present. After finishing his work, when he was about to head towards home he heard something…

He turned and saw that something was disturbing the tranquility of the standing paddy crops. He thought it was some animal but the humming sound that came from didn’t seem like an animal. So, he decided to check what it was. He followed the direction in which the crops were moving. The humming sound was making the eerier. But whenever he headed towards the moving object, in no time, it changed its direction. It was happening again and again. So he showed his bravery and ran to block the way of the moving object. Suddenly the moving object stopped and stood up.  It was a human figure. Suddenly with the dim light of the moon, he recognized the person and yelled the name of Sarada. She was all wet and was half undressed. Then, great grandfather properly put her sari and asked what had happened. Suddenly, Sarada caught hold of him and told, “Amake Bachao Baba, Amake Bachao Baba (Save me, son, Save me, son)”. My great grandfather asked what had happened but she continuously asked him to save her. From what, from whom - all remained unknown forever. He took her home and handed her over to her son. On asking what had happened, her son just got a reply to take care of her as it was too late to explain to him.

Great grandfather reached home and his mother enquired about him being late. He told that on his way he met his friend. Confused, that what on earth his friend was doing late night, told great grandfather to wash his feet in the pond. He went there and while he was washing his feet in the water he saw one girl in Bengali attire was standing on the opposite side of the pond and was watching him. He shouted, “Who’s there?” But she ran away. At home, when great grandfather was about to sleep and was trying to sleep. The next day was the day when he would perform the last rites so that his wife's soul rest in peace. Suddenly, he saw that the same girl was sitting on the shrine of the temple. She was moving her legs calmly and was looking down. Her face was so innocent, just like great grandfather's wife. Suddenly, she looked at my great grandfather, smiled and ran away. Great grandfather heaved a sigh and slept peacefully. He understood the girl was his dead wife who had come to pay a last visit to her husband ...

Your Father's Prey

Your Father’s Prey Anuj had gone on a holiday for one month and when he returns, he turned the key in the lock and opens the door. To his horror, he finds someone staring at him and then suddenly there was a loud crack of thunder. He saw that one boy who looked exactly the same as Anuj jumped out of the balcony. Before we move further let us start from the beginning… Anuj is a college student who is the second boy of his college in Calcutta. He stayed in the hostel of that college. He had a small vacation of Durga Puja, so he went to his home to spend some time with his loved ones and end his boredom. But unfortunately, his father (who was the professor of Anuj’s college) died of a strange disease that could not be cured by any medicines or therapy. He was already not mentally peaceful and this incident happened. When he returned to the hostel he turned the key to his room. It was a stormy night. Words Speak Louder Than Actions

Words Speak Louder Than Actions We have often heard people saying that actions speak louder than words. But words can in some cases speak louder than actions. This story tells us that we can also say the latter… In Mexico City there lived a boy named Ethan. He had an Indian origin and had traveled almost every place in the world due to his father’s transferrable job. He was a very jolly and happy boy. He was strong in both academics and athletics. His mother had her own home business of bakery and he grew up watching his father go to work every morning before anyone woke up and returned after everyone slept. He only knew that his father did a very reputed job. On Sundays, he loved to spend time with his father playing games or by going on a small trip with the family. Life for him was very much similar every day except the fact that he met a lot of new people almost every year. As he grew up he had many friends too. They wanted to know about him and what his father and mothe...
